Repeat Medication

Please allow us 3 working days Excluding Saturday, Sunday or any bank or public holidays) from the time we receive your repeat prescription request to get the new prescription ready for you.

If you need Regular medication we will always give you a printout of your agreed medication. You obtain further supplies of your repeat medication by one of the following route:

• Over the internet. Please contact the practice to enquire about using online services.
• Over the internet or by telephone to a medication delivery service that will deliver to you at work or home anywhere in England.
• Via most of the local pharmacies who will accept your repeat request. They deliver your request to us around lunchtime, so we may get you request on the day you handed it to the chemist or the day afterwards. The chemist will collect the new prescription from us two days after they have delivered the request to us.
• Dropping your repeat prescription tick sheet and blue card through our letter box and collecting the new prescription from yoour chosen chemist three working days later

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.65
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
• 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
